Production Research

Content- This is a form of research needed for the script of the film. Optioning is when you buy the script and pay for the rights to use it. You usually get 2 years to create the film otherwise the scriptwriter can sell the script to another film maker. You can also come up with your own content by creating your own script. This is useful for short films because  it can be realistic with your content research. Copyrighting can also effect it because it can lead to future lawsuits. Copyright can also be bought and sold. This is effective for short films because you can still use copyrighted products but you have to pay for it.

Viability- is when something can be realistically done. For example, if you can afford to film in another country. This affects short films because they have a small budget and they might have to think logically in order to save money and still have a good standard of short film. The budget comes into viability as well. For example, how much it costs to get certain equipment.

Placement Media

Finance/Costs- There are many costs in making short films. For example, Budget, equipment, etc. This is effective for short film makers because they haven't got a big budget to make the film

Technological Resources- Hardware is something that is real you use for editing your short film like a computer. Software is programs used to edit short films like i movie. This effects short films because the editor might not have a high resolution computer to be able to edit the movie. You will sometimes need more than one editor so you would need a group license.

Personel- There are many types of personal. For example, legal team, sales team, editing team, etc. This effects short film makers because they are unknown so people need to be really creative in order to be able to market and distribute their short film. You may need to think about creating t shirts in order to create money for you distribution.

Locations- You can use a location recce this is when you describe the location and its advantages and disadvantages swell as risks such light and sound. You will also need to think about space for the need of equipment. This effects Short films because they don't have the biggest budget so they would need to think of aspects like space and continuity.
